A few days ago, experts from the Central Scientific and Methodological Vet Laboratory announced information that in March of this year, one and a half hundred animals were discovered in Russian expanses that were diagnosed with rabies.
Of the 148 animals infected with the dangerous virus, 65 foxes were reported. In almost all three cases of rabies, dogs and cats were affected.
Another 24 episodes of rabies were associated with representatives of cattle. Small cattle suffered less - only three cases of damage by the pathogen. It is also known that the disease killed two pigs.It should be noted that seven raccoon dogs and three wolves were also included in the list of victims as a result of rabies. Other animals were unlucky: two moose, two horses and a pair of polar foxes. It is also known that in March 2019, the rabies virus defeated one Russian deer and one jackal.
Most of the animals suffered from rabies in the Moscow region. A high level of infection with this virus was also observed in the Penza, Vladimir, as well as Kaluga and Novosibirsk regions. There are known cases of rabies infection in the Amur Region, Krasnoyarsk Territory and in the suburbs of Saratov.
