NFU Cymru, a leading agricultural organization in Wales, has launched a new Sustainable Agriculture Award to recognize the unprecedented contribution of Welsh farmers to the economic, environmental, social and cultural well-being of Wales.
The NFU Cymru Sustainable Agriculture Award was solemnly announced at the Sustainable Agriculture: Food, Agriculture, and the Environment conference at Pentre Farm, near Brecon.
The Sustainable Agriculture Award will be awarded to the farm or farmer who will demonstrate the best results in: commitment to the production of high-quality food products in accordance with international standards; protecting, maintaining and improving the quality of the habitat on farms; their participation and contribution to the rural economy, rural community and Welsh culture.
The winner will receive £ 500 and a commemorative award. The deadline for accepting applications is Monday, September 30, 2019.
NFU Cymru president John Davis said: “Welsh farmers are making an unprecedented contribution to Wales' economic, environmental, social and cultural well-being. In addition to producing high-quality food products in accordance with international standards, farmers manage more than 80% of Wales, playing an important role in protecting, maintaining and improving the farming environment. ”
