Farms of the Kherson region opened the season for picking carrots for a new crop.

The first lots of young carrots are sold at fairly high prices. To date, the wholesale markets of Ukraine offer vegetables at a price of 45-50 UAH / kg, which is equivalent to € 1.53-1.7 / kg.

Wholesale market operators are not going to cut prices for domestic carrots in 2019 in the near future, given the rather modest supply and the record high prices of last year's vegetable vegetables.

As previously reported, in the second half of April, the prices for carrots of the old crop rapidly went up. As of May 10 this year, on the platform for trading with cars of the largest market in Western Ukraine of the Shuvar ORSP in Lviv, “old” carrots are sold at a price of 10-18 UAH / kg (€ 0.34-0.61 / kg )

This variation in product prices is due to the large difference in its quality. Recall that until recently at the Ukrainian wholesale markets all the positions of the new crop of “borsch set” vegetables were present, except for carrots. Now the local carrot of the 2019 harvest has also entered the market.

While the vegetables of the old crop continue to grow in price, the products of the new crop show a decline in prices. According to Info-Shuvar analysts, over the last week of April, early beets in the country's markets have become cheaper by 14%, early onions have fallen in price by 7%, early potatoes have become cheaper by almost 40%, and early cabbage has more than doubled.
