Zhytomyr region is one of the regions with the smallest number of outbreaks of African swine fever - 7 cases in 5 years.
This was said on June 18, the head of the Main Directorate of the State Food and Beverage Service in the Zhytomyr Region, Alexander Shpita, at a meeting of the emergency antiepizootic commission at the Regional State Administration.
“On the territory of Ukraine there is still a rather complicated epizootic situation regarding the incidence of swine African plague. The disease is registered in all areas. Since the beginning of 2019, 23 such cases have been registered. In the Zhytomyr region, there are fewer outbreaks of African swine fever - since 2015, 7 cases have been recorded here.
But work to ensure a stable epizootic situation in our region continues in the future, ”said Alexander Shpita.
The anti-epizootic commission at the Regional State Administration decided:
- continue advocacy among the population and farms of the region;
- only identified animals with all necessary documents should be allowed to sell meat on the market;
- disinfect market areas after the end of each working day;
- take urgent measures to suppress the spontaneous trade in live animals and animal products
- conduct systematic observations of wild boars and domestic pigs;
- ensure 100% vaccination of pigs against classical plague in farms of all forms of ownership.
