This is because beets consume much less water than sugar cane. For Egypt, which is almost entirely dependent on water resources, such a decision is important.
The Egyptian company Delta Sugar, which is the largest Middle Eastern producer of sugar beets, has planned to reach the level of about 310 thousand tons of product this year.
For this, the company widely practices 80% subsidizing to farmers the cost of beet seeds, stimulating a wide variety of bonuses, as well as assisting with fertilizers and technical consultations of specialists.
According to cautious forecasts, this year about 1.4 million tons of sugar will be produced from sugar beets in the country. The entire level of consumption of sweet product per year in Egypt is estimated at 3.3 million tons, of which 76% is of domestic production.
