This is the sixth farm owned by a Russian company in the region, and plans for the future include forty more properties in the area.
Last week, Cherkizovo Group launched the sixth pig breeding farm in the Penza Region, which is a strategic venue for the pig-breeding business.
The previous local site was opened in June 2019. Pig complexes from Cherkizovo in the Penza Region have combined production capacities with annual production of up to 5.1 thousand tons of pork in live weight.
Such an enterprise requires over 550 million rubles. ($ 8.4 million) investment. Each complex is designed to accommodate more than 20 thousand pigs at a time or up to 40 thousand pigs on the market annually, the company said in a press release.
Penza region is of great importance for Cherkizovo. The main business segments are concentrated here - the processing of grain, feed, poultry, pork and meat, said Leonid Izmailov, head of investment projects at the enterprise.
The company plans to build forty additional pig farms in the region, as it intends to increase the production of pork in this section to 300 thousand tons annually over the next 5-7 years.
