Since the fall of 2019, one of the vocational schools in the Moldavian city of Nisporeni has begun training students in the specialty “producer of berries”.
It should be noted that this is the first such experience in the system of secondary special education in Moldova. It is expected that about twenty-four future professional berry pickers will begin training.
However, if the number of applicants is higher than planned, the school leadership will form two training groups at once. The administration of the educational institution reports that students will comprehend the science of professional berry science for two years.
It should be noted that today in the Republic of Moldova about six hundred farmers are engaged in the production of berries, each of which has different land areas. The maximum territory per farmer does not exceed one hectare.
It is noteworthy that not every of these farmers has a higher or at least secondary special education in the fruit growing industry. In many cases, self-taught berries are involved in the cultivation of berries, who managed to achieve success literally on a hunch.
The opening of a new specialty in the Nisporeni school is designed to bring the berry production of Moldova to a qualitatively new level.
