Experts in the crop production department at the Main Directorate of Agriculture in the Lipetsk Region report that it is their region that is today the leader of the Russian Federation in terms of harvested volumes from local greenhouses.
According to the regional plant growing department, by mid-May, Lipetsk workers involved in harvesting their greenhouse complexes managed to collect more than thirty-eight thousand tons of vegetables grown in closed ground.
The lion's share of this crop is made up of cucumbers with an indicator of twenty-five and a half thousand tons. As for tomatoes, their share in the total mass of fresh greenhouse harvest was twelve and a half thousand tons.It will not be superfluous to note that in recent years, the cultivation of vegetables in greenhouse complexes in closed ground conditions has been rapidly gaining momentum in the Lipetsk region.
Local farmers successfully master the work in the unique greenhouses of the latest generation with equipment like UltraClima. Climate control and irrigation in such conditions is carried out automatically without the use of human resources. Also note that today in the region greenhouses occupy a territory with a total area of 106 hectares. However, over the next year, the Lipetsk authorities intend to expand the area of greenhouse complexes to at least 200 hectares. Based on forecasts, at the end of the 2019 season, Lipetsk farmers can collect about 190 tons of vegetable products from closed ground.
