In Groningen (Netherlands), farmers broke into the doors of the provincial administration. The reasons for this are the limited number of farmed animals and harsh environmental requirements.
Unattractive pictures from the Netherlands hit the net: angry farmers pushed the door of the administrative building of the Dutch province of Groningen with a tractor to storm the office. Police prevented this with batons and injured several demonstrators.
Farmers are opposed to stricter environmental standards, such as nitrogen mitigation measures, with which the government intends to stop global warming.
The authorities' plans to buy agricultural land to reduce too much livestock also cause great uncertainty among farmers.
Nitrogen emissions should be drastically reduced following a decision in the Netherlands. Due to exceeding the permissible values, 18 thousand construction projects were already temporarily closed throughout the country.
On Monday, hundreds of farmers also held demonstrations in seven other provinces of the country. In some regions, with success: nitrogen regulations were temporarily suspended.
