For several years, Ukrainian agricultural producers have been actively reorienting themselves to the European market. Even despite quotas protecting local producers, Europe highly values organic agricultural products, issuing them certificates of compliance with the standards.
The Lilak LLC Chernivtsi company, whose production facilities are located in the urban-type village Glybokaya of the Chernivtsi region, also received the status of a producer of organic goods.
According to Vladimir Zavodovsky, General Director, since 2012, the company has been successfully tested every year the food safety management system that meets the requirements of the German FSSC 22000 DQS certification scheme. The company also has a European Organic certificate.
The main organic products exported from Ukraine are cereals, oilseeds and legumes, as well as nuts, wild herbs, mushrooms and berries, which became possible after the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union and the Free Trade Zone.
The association agreement pushed Ukrainian legislation on organic matter, which makes up the whole food production system.
Each stage is under the close supervision of the certification authority. But high profits are worth such tough standards, Vladimir Zavodovsky concluded.
