The petition for the legalization of cannabis collected the necessary 25 thousand. The Verkhovna Rada is obliged to accept it for consideration within 3 working days.
On January 30 of this year, a petition on the legalization of medical marijuana was registered on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Now the deputies are obliged to study the document and within three days to publish a notice on its website on the start of its consideration. The creators of the petition ask for a law-based settlement of patients' access to medicines from cannabis to cure chronic diseases and a series of other diseases, in particular, Alzheimer's disease, sclerosis , Parkinson's disease, critical weight loss during AIDS and other serious illnesses.
Deputies are asked to amend laws and provide appropriate conditions for the use of plants in medicine and science, including clinical development, research and state registration of medicines or treatment protocols that mean the use of products containing cannabioids. The appeal asks to resolve the issue of legal circulation of products, containing canabioids, including sick people.
Members of Ukrainian human rights organizations, such as the Ukrainian Association of Medical Kanabis, Charitable Foundation Patients of Ukraine, Charitable Foundation for Children with Hemophilia, and others signed the petition. Ulyana Suprun, Acting Minister of Health of Ukraine, supported the petition for legalizing medical marijuana. She said that in world practice, medical cannabis is used in the treatment of cancer, epilepsy, Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis.
