Dill - a storehouse of nutrients needed by man. This plant has long been used in medicine to treat a wide variety of diseases. Seeds, on the other hand, contain the largest amount of vitamins, micro and macro elements, which is why they are often used in folk medicine for treating the eyes, including cataracts.
Important! Any treatment with folk remedies, even such at first glance completely safe as dill lotions, should be agreed with the doctor. Excessiveness and unjustified self-medication can cause new diseases or poisoning.
The healing properties of dill
The beneficial effect of dill on the body is primarily due to its rich chemical composition.
Vitamins:
- A (retinol);
- B1 (thiamine);
- B2 (riboflavin);
- B6 (pyridoxine);
- B9 (folic acid);
- C (ascorbic acid);
- E (tocopherol);
- PP (niacin);
- beta carotene.
Trace elements:
- copper;
- zinc;
- iron;
- manganese.
Macronutrients:
- phosphorus;
- potassium;
- calcium;
- sodium;
- sulfur;
- magnesium.
Fatty acid: omega-3, omega-6.
Due to such a rich composition, dill has the following effects in the treatment of eyes:
- Disinfects, destroys bacteria and fungi. It can be used for conjunctivitis.
- Boosts immunity resistance to harmful factors of the external and internal environment.
- Strengthens tissues. The chemical composition is very nutritious and compensates for the lack of useful substances of the lens, eyelids, eyeball, which helps to improve metabolism, more active and high-quality cell renewal.
- Cleans. Helps to eliminate toxins from the skin.
- Relieves inflammation and irritation. Soothes and protects the skin and mucous membranes.
- Stabilizes blood vessels and blood flow in them, which improves blood flow, and, therefore, increases the flow of nutrients to the tissues.
Did you know? The ancient Arabs had an interesting test for visual acuity: if a person looks at the constellation Ursa Major at night and sees another small asterisk near the middle star on the bucket handle, then he has good eyesight.
Features of the use of dill for eyes
Dill seeds are used in folk medicine to treat a decrease in visual acuity, eye fatigue and cataracts, as well as the appearance of edema and bruising under the eyes. Special lotions are made from seeds. Through them, nutrients penetrate the eye tissue, filling the deficiency of vitamins and minerals, improving metabolic processes in the cells, which helps to relieve fatigue and redness, improves vision, prevents or slows the onset of cataracts.
Cataracts are an age-related eye disease in which the lens becomes cloudy, is dragged on by a white veil, because of which vision is blurred, becomes blurred, and its sharpness decreases. The disease begins to progress from 40-50 years old, and by the age of 80 it can cause a complete loss of the ability to see.The cause of cataracts often becomes a slowdown in metabolic processes in the tissues of the eyes and cell renewal, which occurs when there is a lack of building materials - vitamins, micro and macro elements. In this case, lotions from dill seeds will just help make up for the shortage.
Among the causes of the onset of the disease, there are other factors (for example, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, glaucoma, prolonged use of corticosteroids, bad habits), however, in these cases, alternative medicine, even if it does not protect against the disease, will at least stop its course.
Did you know? In the Middle Ages people already noticed the healing properties of dill, but instead of using it in cooking and medicine, they decorated their dwelling for protection from witchcraft.
In ophthalmology, cataracts are usually treated surgically by replacing the lens with an artificial lens. But surgery is always undesirable if it can be avoided. The use of dill seeds for the eyes is just a tool that can act both as a prophylaxis of eye diseases (prevents a decrease in visual acuity and the occurrence of cataracts or syndrome of tired eyes), and as a treatment for existing diseases aimed at slowing their course.
How to make lotions

There is another good recipe for lotions. In addition to dill seeds, peppermint leaves are also used in it. This plant relieves fatigue and redness of the eyes, fights inflammation and purulent secretions, refreshes and tightens the skin.

- Apply lotions to the eyes for at least 20 minutes.
- Cover the bags with a plastic bag or cling film, insulate with a terry towel on top. This is necessary so that the bags do not cool so quickly.
- The temperature of lotions should be on the upper limit of the value acceptable to you. This means that they should not be cool, but not too hot, burning. The temperature should be what you can tolerate without unnecessary effort.
- During the procedure, take a lying position. You should be comfortable.

- With a heavy eye strain, such treatment can be carried out in the morning after waking up.
- The bags themselves are reusable, after each use they only need to be washed with soap.
- Seeds are suitable only for single brewing, as with each subsequent boiling, they lose a large amount of nutrients, which means they become useless.
Duration of use
The use of lotions may be daily. There are no restrictions on the duration of admission if the body takes this substance and there are no adverse reactions.
Contraindications
For external use, dill seeds have only one contraindication - allergy.
An allergic reaction to dill can manifest itself in the form of:
- itching
- redness of the skin;
- urticaria;
- puffiness of the eyelids.
If these symptoms occur, treatment should be stopped immediately. Before using dill lotions, test for an allergic reaction: attach the prepared bag with seeds to the skin on your wrist for 20 minutes. If itching or redness occurs, then using dill in this way is contraindicated for you. If there is no reaction, then lotions can be used.
Dill seeds are rich in useful substances, and therefore favorably affect the condition of the eyes. Lotions are effective in the prevention of cataracts, as well as relieve fatigue, irritation and edema. With timely use, this tool can avoid surgery to replace the lens.
