Disposal of substandard food products is carried out by state enterprises of Ukraine.
Over the past year, employees of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection have disposed of 31 tons of hazardous food, said Boris Kobal, director of the Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine Department.
According to the service, last year employees of the State Food and Beverage Service refused to sell a total of 31,400.1 tons of livestock products. Of these, 195.3 tons were sent for disinfection, about 345 tons were neutralized and 30860 tons were disposed of.Representatives of the State Food and Beverage Service noted that products of inadequate quality are disposed of on the territory of state enterprises of the country, which are part of the state-owned enterprise Ukrvetsanzavod.
For information, low-quality food products come from both foreign and local producers of Ukraine.So, this spring 210 kg of vegetables were not allowed to be sold in Khmelnitsky markets due to the excess nitrate content. Harmful substances were found in tomatoes and radishes.
