France is frightened by the fact that an outbreak of African swine plague is registered literally one and a half kilometers from the state border, in Belgium. To protect their farms from becoming infected with a dangerous virus, French farmers have outlined a whole plan to prevent the spread of the pathogen.

So, in the near future, observation zones along the border with Belgium will be created. If wild boars are seen in these areas, the French side will make every effort to exterminate potentially infectious animals.

“We also intend to build a fence with a height of one and a half meters and a length of 101 kilometers, which will separate our country from raids of animals from Belgian viral foci,” representatives of the French agro-industrial complex say. “In the meantime, fifty of our hunters will vigilantly control the risk zones and seek out the carcasses of dead infected boars.” Places where animal bodies are discovered will be recorded by veterinary officers. And the carcasses will be sent to a special complex to collect potentially hazardous materials. ”

It is noteworthy that to date, French hunters have not found a single dead boar carcass in the risk zone. And in all of France, not a single case of infection of local ASF pigs has yet been recorded.
