Kherson Regional State Administration published statistics on the production of meat and meat products at enterprises of the region. During the first quarter of this year, indicators increased by almost a third.

In January-March 2019, 28% more meat was produced in the Kherson region than in the same period of 2018.

As for the industrial livestock at the enterprises of the region, the number of cattle has not changed much and now stands at 15.3 thousand heads. The livestock in households was not counted. The number of pigs decreased by 10%. Now it is 63.3 thousand goals.

The downward trend in the pig population is reinforced by the spread of ASF. According to forecasts of Meat-Inform analysts, meat production in Ukraine will increase by 150 thousand tons and amount to 2,232 thousand tons. But this does not apply to all types of meat.

In particular, it is expected that after several years of decline in production, beef production should increase. Production volumes and poultry meat are growing. Experts give a negative forecast about pork production. It can be reduced from 602 thousand tons in 2018 to 545 thousand tons in 2019.
