Surveygoo, an expert in public opinion polls and online surveys for PR and marketing agencies, surveyed about 1,000 consumers in the US and the UK, including vegetarians, vegans, Pescatarians and meat-eaters.
In all groups of respondents, one in four said that vegetarian foods should not have meat-related names. According to them, vegetarian producers should not be allowed to use meat-related names such as sausage, hamburger or steak.
Vegetarians were less likely to disapprove of the names; only 18% of the supporters of the без сов »» рацион рацион diet didn’t support the ban. On the contrary, 33% of vegans and 26% of meat-eaters said that vegetarian products should not have meat-related names.
According to the survey, there is a significant gap between vegetarians and vegans when it comes to making a purchasing decision. Nearly half of the vegetarians surveyed (49%) said they were more likely to buy a product without meat if it spelled a word such as sausage, hamburger, or steak. However, only 19% of vegans said the same thing, while 57% said they were less likely to buy the product if it bears the name associated with meat.
Surveygoo's managing director said the results of the survey should serve as an important lesson for producers and sellers of herbal products - vegetarians and vegans are different consumer categories with completely different purchasing preferences.
